Kay Hudson - Principal Associate, CCHPO
Kay Hudson is currently the President of the Chicago Center for High Performance Organizations, Inc., one of the Commonwealth Centers for High-Performance (CCHPO). CCHPO is a management consulting network focused on improving organizational performance and managing large scale organizational change in the public and private sectors. Areas of consulting emphasis for the Centers are large-scale organizational change, development of high-performance executive leadership teams, project management, executive coaching, emotional competence, values and ethics, organizational diagnosis and work culture surveys, integration of the continuous learning and improvement philosophy into organizational work cultures, design and implementation of product quality and service quality programs, and design and delivery of executive development programs.
Ms. Hudson is a presenter and facilitator for applied programs of the Building High Performance Organizations for the Twenty-first Century and the Transforming Organizations Workshops which facilitate and support organizations through achievement of organizational vision and mission and individuals to build leadership and organizational skills. She has developed and delivered programs for Federal agencies and private sector organizations nationally and internationally.
Before associating with CCHPO, Ms. Hudson had a 33-year career as an internal management consultant and program evaluator with the Federal government, culminating in six years of design, development and implementation of a major organizational change for 1200 employees at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). There she facilitated groups responsible for new and changing environmental programs through vision, strategy and tactical development. She led implementation of organizational and cultural changes; created strategies for reinvigorating staff support; and coordinated the activities of a cadre of internal facilitators leading groups through organizational changes. Prior to her change work, Ms. Hudson was program evaluator in two Federal agencies. Associated with that work, she applied a variety of analytical tools to assess organizational performance and designed strategies and approaches for improvement. To facilitate improvement, she developed and presented classroom training in a wide range of management topics.
She is certified in Prosci© Change Management, Lominger© Leadership Architecture, and to administer and interpret the Strength Deployment Inventory©. She has used these tools and instruments with other skills to assess leadership skills, deal constructively with conflict, improve teamwork, assess organizational readiness for major change efforts and design change management programs to implement change efforts, and to enhance group problem-solving skills. Ms. Hudson received a BS degree in mathematics from Emory University and an MBA in management from Georgia State University.
