Creation of a Process Evaluation Instrument through Structural Equations Modeling of Organizational Change Data by Bruce L. Brown, Brigham Young University, Philip D. Harnden, John W. Pickering, and Gerald R. Brokaw, Commonwealth Center for High Performance Organizations.
The article abstract says:
Financial data attest to the effectiveness of High Performance Organization training in government and defense-related organizations. However, the aspiration of HPO is human rather than financial: HPO seeks to promote the “higher moral purpose” of the individual development, dignity, and fulfillment of each person within an organization. Therefore, there is a need for a way to evaluate the impact of HPO on the human side of the organization. Standard psychometric instruments provide less than satisfactory measures of this. A unique quantitative and qualitative measurement paradigm is introduced, based upon a dialogical model rather than a psychometric model. Structural equations modeling of a large and extensive dataset is used to find causal structure among four stages of organizational change: antecedents, organizational climate, change mechanisms, and outcomes. From this structure and the dialogical model, the Process Diagnostic Questionnaire (PDQ) is created to measure the human impact of HPO.
The article includes a discussion of the LPQ.
